Never a dull moment with One King’s Lane

Since I began working with One King’s Lane a few months back, I’ve written about hundreds (thousands?) of home-decor items. As a die-hard, flash-sale shopper, it’s always exciting to peruse their ever-changing array of goods. And, as a copywriter, it provides quite a wonderful challenge, as well.

Because their sales feature so many different vendors and designers, One King’s Lane offers a treasure trove of spectacular home decor items. From high-ticket pieces like lighting fixtures and furniture, to the well-priced accent objet and all the pillows and garden decor and tableware in between, OKL stylishly serves it up stylishly.

And, just as quickly as it arrives, it’s gone. But, never fear: more gorgeous, wonderful deals are on the way.

That’s the thrill of the chase for the shopper and copywriter alike. (I’m loving this.)

Here are a few snaps of my recent work with One King’s Lane.

See what I mean? (Can’t wait for what’s next!)

A stylish new client: One Kings Lane

This week, I’ve started working with the talented folks at e-commerce/flash sale site, OneKingsLane.com, copywriting for their events. Writing creative copy about gorgeous, upscale home furnishings and accessories is a pretty wonderful gig, I must admit. So far, my work includes copy for must-have brands such as Bric’s, Kristin Drohan, Fringe Studio, Funktion Home, to name a few.

Since they only carry top brands and carefully curated collections, I can’t wait to see what’s next, both as a copywriter and a dedicated OKL shopper!

Here are screenshots of a selection of my work for One Kings Lane:

Celebrities, style, giveaways: Madberries.com Blog

For a short, extremely fun period of time, I was a celebrity style blogger for a site run by Bauer Publishing called Madberries.com. Now defunct, this blog was to serve as a promotional tool for Life & Style magazine and featured daily giveaways of some trendy, “star-worthy” prizes. The idea was to combine the giveaways with brief blog entries written in the voice of your in-the-know best friend. Think a stripped-down, less-snarky version of the inimitable Go Fug Yourself blog/site, with killer prizes like clothes and jewelry, makeup, fragrance, accessories and more. And it was completely free to participate. Needless to say, Madberries quickly had a die-hard fan base and dedicated commenters.

It was my job to write the blogs, featuring the giveaway of the day couched in a celeb-style blurb and corresponding red-carpet or paparazzi pic. Daily, I sorted through tons of celebrity photos to find just the right one to accompany my blog entry.

So: celebrities, style tips, and great giveaways every day. Bliss! But Bauer pulled the plug and rolled the giveaways into a much simpler format. Unfortunately, the removal of the site was swift and complete . . .and before I could get a few screen grabs. (sigh)

If you’d like to get an idea about the fleeting fancy that was the oddly named Madberries.com, take a look at these downloadable Word docs which served as my rough drafts.
